So you don’t need to worry about that even though a message like this: “ATTENTION! Your phone has been blocked up for safety reasons” has taken over your phone screen. This is just a scam with an aim to steal your money. Let’s see how this malware works.

How does FBI Department of Defense works? This virus is usually distributed on hacked website or spam email. It pretends to be an available app like Adobe Flash Player or Private Video. If a user is not aware of this, then he will accidentally allow this virus accessing his mobile device. Once infected, a fake FBI message will pop up claiming that the target user has performed some illegal actions that are beyond the law and therefore all files and applications have been locked. It also displays the IP address, location and many fake official logos and seals on its page to make it look real. Cyber criminals use these scare tactics in order to make money off of Android users. In order to access the phone, user is always asked to pay a certain amount of money. It is meant to be as a fine for a done damage. Usually it is $100, $200 or $300 and even $500. The hackers prefer this payment to be done using MoneyPak, MoneyGram or Vanilla Reloadcard payment system because it is more complicated to track the money once victims found it was a scam.
