Hi there. My phone has been blocked up by FBI Department of Defense Virus and I am looking for ways to get rid of it. It happened when I downloaded an adobe flash player. I thought it was an update for my android but it turns out it was a virus. This app locked and encrypted my device now so I cannot access anything in it. It asks me to pay a fine within 48 hours or it will erase everything in my phone and even send something to my contacts to let my relatives know my violation. Is it true? I cannot use my phone at all. I can hold the power button down and that will power off my phone. After it turns back on I have about 20 seconds before the malware pops back up. I tried removing it through my settings, but I cant. I have no clue what to do, but I really need to access my device because I have a lot of photos and contacts that are very important. Please help!!!
FBI Department of Defense Virus Blocks Your Phone/Tablet – How to Fix It?
Android is the world’s most widely used mobile operating system (OS) and continues to be a primary target for malware attacks due to its market share and open source architecture. Therefore it is not surprising if your android phone or tablet was attacked by malware like FBI Department of Defense Virus. This virus is not something new, it was discovered in 2013, targeting on Windows and Mac computers. Now it works on Android devices, in the same way as it does on computers by locking up one’s device until he pays the ransom. This fake FBI thing is known as a Trojan Koler malware designed by cyber criminals, but not sent from any law enforcement agencies like FBI Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Justice or Federal Bureau of Investigation. So you don’t need to worry about that even though a message like this: “ATTENTION! Your phone has been blocked up for safety reasons” has taken over your phone screen. This is just a scam with an aim to steal your money. Let’s see how this malware works.
How does FBI Department of Defense works? This virus is usually distributed on hacked website or spam email. It pretends to be an available app like Adobe Flash Player or Private Video. If a user is not aware of this, then he will accidentally allow this virus accessing his mobile device. Once infected, a fake FBI message will pop up claiming that the target user has performed some illegal actions that are beyond the law and therefore all files and applications have been locked. It also displays the IP address, location and many fake official logos and seals on its page to make it look real. Cyber criminals use these scare tactics in order to make money off of Android users. In order to access the phone, user is always asked to pay a certain amount of money. It is meant to be as a fine for a done damage. Usually it is $100, $200 or $300 and even $500. The hackers prefer this payment to be done using MoneyPak, MoneyGram or Vanilla Reloadcard payment system because it is more complicated to track the money once victims found it was a scam. To sum up, FBI Department of Defense Virus is a hoax that you should not taken in. Delete FBI virus from Android phone and continue using your device without any disturbances.
